Our second visit to Seville and as avid readers of this site will know, we had very little recollection of our previous visit so this was something of a new city to us (although at times during our visit various of our number were able to recall hazy memories of various things).
The centre of Seville is dominated by the impressive cathedral and that is a good place to start exploring the city.
Since our last visit a large amount of money has obviously been spent on improvements to the infrastructure. In particular we were impressed by the new tram and metro systems.
On this visit we were also able to find many restaurants (the main reason for our downfall last time) although the price of food and drink has, inevitably, increased significantly.
We would recommend a tour of the city on the green open top bus. Not only does this allow you to hop on and off at the various points of interest but also is a great way of getting your bearings. A word of warning though, be careful of you sit on the pavement side on the upper deck, the overhanging branches can be dangerous!
Travel
Manchester - Lison - Seville with TAP
Good flights but our journey coincided with a Scottish football match and was full of their supporters!
Seville - Brussels - Manchester with Brussels Airline
No great problems with the flight but the connection at Brussels airport involved an extremely long walk through the terminal.
Accommodation
Hotel Hesperia Sevilla
A modern hotel with very good facilities in a pleasant area about 2 miles from the city centre. There are a number of cafes and bars in the area and the hotel bar and restaurant was reasonably cheap as well.
Nervion metro station is very close to the hotel and there is a taxi rank outside so getting into the city isn't a problem.
